December 2019

Christmas Eve is tomorrow. I'm reflecting on the past year. It's been a writing journey. I joined a writing group, went to my first writer's conference, joined Twitter and just crossed 5,000 followers, self-published my first novel and my second is coming out in a few weeks. It's been a long road, but in retrospect, the time has flown by.

It makes me wonder what 2020 will hold. Will I start another novel? Or will I spend some time promoting the ones already written?

I'm leaning toward the latter. If no one reads my books, what is the point of writing?

Or as I posted to Twitter: If a book falls in the forest, will anyone ever read it?

I need to learn the marketing side of things if I want to make a real go at this writing endeavor. Besides, I don't have a good story/plot idea for my next book yet. When I do, maybe I'll blog about it.

No, 2020 will be a year to take stock and figure out some priorities. One of the things that surprised me this year is that I enjoy beta reading for others. I used to think beta reading would be a chore, but I learn more about myself as a writer by reading others works in progress. Who knew? One of my 2020 goals will be to beta read for another writer every month. So if you are in need of a beta reader, feel free to contact me through this site.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
